The current Screenweaver HX version (1.0.5) is build against Neko 1.5 and haXe 1.09, which are available from, respectively:
HaXe’s distribution for Windows contains Neko - so there’s no need to download Neko seperately. After downloading haXe, unzip the package into a folder of your choice. Do make sure that the folder you choose does not contain any blank spaces. If you are out of inspiration:
C:\Dev\haXe\... is a nice place for haXe to live.
Once you’ve unpacked the files run ‘haxelibsetup.exe’
Unfortunately, Neko 1.5 and haXe 1.09 are not yet available for OS-X. Until they are available, this paragraph describes the Neko 1.4 and haXe 1.08 installation procedure. After install, use ‘haxelib install swhx 18.104.22.168’ to install the last SWHX haXe 1.08 compatible version.
In contrary to the Window’s haXe distribution, the OSX distribution does not contain the Neko VM. Download both Neko and haXe (see links above). Unzip both packages to a temporary folder. Next, we need to do some manual installation steps:
From this point on, the installation steps for Windows and OSX are the same:
Now that haXe is installed, we are going to use haXe’s librerian, haXelib, to install Screenweaver. But first, we ask haXe to configure itself. Open a command-line and type:
HaXelib will ask you to enter a library path. Hitting enter will suffice. Next we issue:
haxelib install swhx
You should now see Screenweaver being downloaded and gettting installed. Once it is done, you have successfully installed Screenweaver HX.
Screenweaver requires the Adobe Flash plug-in for Netscape, version 8 or better, to be installed to your system. Screenweaver will look for the plugin at the following folders:
These are the default Firefox/Safari installation paths. If you have the Flash plug-in installed for one of these browsers, please make sure that it is version 8 or better.
If Screenweaver doesn’t find the Adobe Flash plug-in in one of the default folders, it will proceed to download the latest plug-in from Adobe. Upon completion, it will not install the plug-in system wide, but place it in the application’s root folder, in a file named ‘flashplayer.bin’.
Screenweaver comes with an application for browsing its samples. After Screenweaver installation it can be launched by issuing the following command-line:
haxelib run swhx
For Sampler to work correctly, you need to have the Adobe Flash plug-in for Netscape, version 9 or better installed. Version 9 is required for Sampler, since its GUI was created with Adobe Flex 2.0.
